CONAGRA FOODS LAMB WESTON DECLARES THIRD ANNUAL FREE FRIES FRYDAY A SUCCESS; PROVIDES 41,795 POUNDS OF FOOD TO FIGHT HUNGER IN THE TRI-CITIES

KENNEWICK, Wash., Aug. 5, 2011 — ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston® partnered with many of its restaurant customers in the Tri-Cities-area on Friday, July 29, to celebrate the third annual Free Fries Fryday, a community-wide promotion to kick-off Tri-City Water Follies and Lamb Weston Columbia Cup Hydroplane Race weekend.

A total of 43 participating restaurants served Lamb Weston quality french fries at no charge to customers throughout the day. By day’s end, nearly 33,000 servings of fries were distributed to customers at participating local restaurants, as well as at the Lamb Weston fry trailer in Columbia Park, Wash.

For the second year in a row, Lamb Weston teamed up with Second Harvest Tri-Cities, a local food bank, for the promotion. Lamb Weston will donate 10 cents to Second Harvest Tri-Cities for every serving of free fries served July 29. Lamb Weston will also contribute $1 to Second Harvest Tri-Cities for every new fan who joined the Free Fries Fryday Facebook page by July 29. At the conclusion of this year’s promotion, 3,667 new fans had joined the Facebook page.

As a result of Free Fries Fryday and the Free Fries Fryday Facebook fan page, as well as the support of the Tri-Cities community, Lamb Weston will donate $6,966 to Second Harvest Tri-Cities, which will in turn provide 41,795 pounds of food, or 34,835 meals, to local families in need.

Founded in 1971, Second Harvest Tri-Cities is part of Feeding America’s nationwide network of member food banks, and leads the fight against hunger in the Inland Northwest. Today, partnerships with more than 250 neighborhood food banks and meal centers make it possible for Second Harvest Tri-Cities to provide food to 40,000 hungry people each week. Every dollar donated to Second Harvest Tri-Cities provides six pounds of food to the hungry, which is the equivalent of four adult meals.

“Free Fries Fryday continues to grow bigger each year and it’s without question the direct result of our support and enthusiasm from the Tri-Cities community,” said Lisa Bescherer, senior director of Marketing for Lamb Weston. “Our partnership with Second Harvest Tri-Cities is incredibly special to all of us at Lamb Weston and we are proud to partner with an organization that is making a positive difference right in our local area. We also could not have achieved this success without the dedication of our local restaurant partners and all the patrons who enjoy our products, as well as our committed employees,” she added.

“The continued partnership with ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston exemplifies the importance of community and making a positive difference,” said Kathy Kilgore, director for Second Harvest Tri-Cities. “Second Harvest is honored to be a recipient of these efforts. Free Fries Fryday again has proven that people care about their community and look forward to the fun and the opportunity provided by this activity.”
