Lamb Weston has practiced sustainability and environmental stewardship for years—both individually and in tandem with some of our biggest customers, because doing things in the most effective way possible simply makes good business sense. This ensures that our crops are grown in the most efficient, effective and environmentally sustainable way, and that our customers are well-served for the long term, both economically and with high-quality products.
Our commitment to environmental stewardship is a continuous and never-ending process. We seize every opportunity to preserve and protect vital natural resources by judiciously managing energy and water usage, and by reducing waste and pollution.
Lamb Weston sustainability highlights:
- Our Quincy, WA, plant earned the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR designation in 2010, for superior energy performance.

- Our newest plant, currently under construction in Delhi, LA, is working toward the United States Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification standards.
- Lamb Weston purchases Renewable Energy Credits to offset 100% of the electricity used by two Lamb Weston administrative offices and a small portion of Lamb Weston production. This purchase of 16,656,000 kwH's of wind energy represents an offset of approximately 12,492 metric tons of CO2.
Lamb Weston entered nine projects in the 2008 ConAgra Foods Sustainable Development Awards Program. Of these, two were finalists and one received an award. Environmental achievements include the following:
- Carbon footprint reduced by more than 25,000 metric tons
- Landfill waste reduced by 4,000 tons
- Conservation of 348 million gallons of water
- Use of packaging material reduced by 7,000 tons
