Farming isn't an easy life, but Warren and Wayne relish the work. "There's a new challenge every season, but it keeps your mind going – we're never bored!" says Warren. The Heartland has everything they need to grow perfect potatoes: well-drained, sandy soil, lots of daylight and clean, clear well water. In late August, their entire team celebrates the harvest with a hoedown at a local lodge.
For Warren, what matters is "being a steward of the land." Sustainability is his passion, and both he and Wayne are focused on environmentally friendly farming. "We think about how our decisions are going to impact the land, the water, our neighbors and community."
